Longhorns Solve Rebels, 5-2
|
The Longhorns grabbed a win, 5-2, at Ballpark of Celebration College, overcoming a fine effort from Ole Miss pitcher Kevin Lynn. Lynn went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Matt Gordon picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-4. He struck out 5 in 6 innings. Earning his 5th save for Texas was Craig Mehlin.
The Longhorns got a big at-bat from third baseman Tim Flynn. For the game, Flynn was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Texas a 2-1 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Flynn told the Texas Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Longhorns improve their record to 18-22 with the win over Ole Miss.
