Trojans Pull Even With 8-2 Victory
|
The USC Trojans beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 8-2, at Crowley College Grounds. The Trojans got a fine performance from designated hitter Chris Whatley, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Trojans bumped their record to 19-19 with this latest triumph.
Joe Mann, who is rated as the 12th best prospect by BNN, aided the USC cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
Mississippi State manager Carlton Price said his team was "out of sync."
