Multi-HR Game for Duran in 15-4 Win
|
It was a good time at Ballpark of Storm Lake College, where fans came to watch the Oregon Ducks and South Mississippi Golden Eagles get after it.
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles beat the Oregon Ducks, 15-4, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Fernando Duran, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. King Caston picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-0. He struck out 3 in 5.1 innings.
Aaron Tarter, who is tied for 2nd in the RDL in triples with 3, chipped in for South Mississippi with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the second baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"It was a solid team effort," said Tarter after the game.
The Golden Eagles, at 23-15, sit in 4th place in the Cliff Gustafson.
