South Carolina pitcher Curtis Simpson did his part in helping his team beat the Auburn Tigers, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Auburn has now lost 4 straight.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the fifth inning. That's when designated hitter Matt DeMaria reached on an error by the second baseman. The Gamecocks went on to win.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Simpson told the South Carolina Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
