Commodores Come Back Late to Top Cowboys
The Vanderbilt Commodores topped the Oklahoma State Cowboys by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Jason Valentine. Valentine went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Commodores. The winner was Steve Higgins in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Alvin Sheldon took the loss. The Commodores bumped their record to 20-18 with this latest triumph.

Valentine had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 1-0 fastball from Alvin Sheldon, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Commodores a 6-4 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Valentine.

"This place was rocking at the end," Valentine said.
