Owls Pull Even With 6-4 Victory
Kevin Reiss did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the California Golden Bears from losing, 6-4, to the Rice Owls at Prisoners Ballpark. Reiss went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Rice starter Chris Roberts was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Bob Downard earned the save for Rice, his 5th of the year.

Randy Stem aided the Rice cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Stem said.

The Owls bumped their record to 19-19 with this latest triumph.
