Bulldogs Win at Ole Miss, 8-6
|
Ole Miss got a terrific game from third baseman William Horst. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Fresno State, 8-6. Horst was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Fresno State reliever Erik Skrzypek was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Mickey Bojar took the loss. The Bulldogs bumped their record to 19-18 with this latest triumph.
Fresno State used the bat of Danny Stone to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bulldogs ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Stone told reporters after the game.
