Victory Pushes Cardinals Record to 27-10
|
The Stanford Cardinals topped the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 6-3, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Surfers Ballpark. The player of the game was Stanford pitcher Nathan Martin. Martin, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. Stanford leads the Cliff Gustafson by 2½ games.
The Cardinals benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the third. With Josh Kaseman at bat and Stanford leading 3-2, the Mississippi State miscue allowed Stanford to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Kaseman told the Stanford Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
