Malone Slugs Hurricanes to 6-4 Win
|
The Miami Hurricanes grabbed a 6-4 win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Gremlins Ballpark. Miami right fielder Matt Malone hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice to earn player of the game honors. The win was credited to Rich Steele in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Josh Gamble took the loss. Even with the win, the Hurricanes have a dismal 11-25 record.
Malone came through with some timely hitting for Miami. With the score 0-0 in the bottom of the third and no one down, Malone hit a 1-1 changeup for a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season made it 2-0, Miami.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Malone told a Miami Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
