Tar Heels Take Nail-Biter Over Cavaliers
|
Behind the bravura of second baseman Bobby Sides, the North Carolina Tar Heels topped the Virginia Cavaliers by the score of 6-4. Sides went 3 for 6 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Tar Heels. The win was credited to Larry Quimby in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Tony Eagan took the loss. The Tar Heels bumped their record to 24-12 with this latest triumph.
Sides had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 13th. On a 1-2 cutter from Tony Eagan, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Tar Heels a 6-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Sides.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Sides said.
