Sooners Raise Rally Flag, Beat Georgia, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs, Jesse Messinger was the difference-maker. The Oklahoma right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Zachary Schultz finished to wrap up his 6th save. The Sooners bumped their record to 21-15 with this latest triumph.
Had Kenny Disbennett not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Disbennett hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Sooners.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Georgia skipper Masayuki Okamura, "and it cost us."
