Bulldogs Solve Golden Eagles, 5-2
|
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Mike Gamble, the Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the South Mississippi Golden Eagles, 5-2. Gamble went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs bumped their record to 19-14 with this latest triumph.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from first baseman Brian Wild. For the game, Wild went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Mississippi State a 2-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Mississippi State manager Carlton Price.
