49'ers Lose, 8-6, at Toughkenamon College Fields
Rice and Long Beach State duked it out at Toughkenamon College Fields and the Owls came out victorious.

Long Beach State third baseman Keith Whitsitt had a good game, even if his team did not. The 49'ers dropped a 8-6 decision to Rice at Toughkenamon College Fields. Whitsitt went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. B.J. Kelly earned the save, his 5th, for the Owls.

Lee Johnston aided the Rice cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop was 3 for 5 with 3 singles.

Johnston told a Rice Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

The Owls bumped their record to 16-16 with this latest triumph.
