Walker Hits 2 home runs in Golden Bears Win
|
California designated hitter Michael Walker made his presence felt in the 8-5 Golden Bears triumph over the Cal State Fullerton Titans. Walker slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. J.J. Stewart earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Donald Barron earned the save, his 11th, for the Golden Bears.
The Golden Bears got a big at-bat from third baseman Ian Hoover. For the game, Hoover was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 15th hit of the season gave California a 4-3 lead.
Walker told a California Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Golden Bears bumped their record to 19-13 with this latest triumph.
