Sun Devils Win at Louisiana-Layfayette, 5-2
|
The Arizona State Sun Devils got a stellar performance from pitcher Jeremiah Williams, who handcuffed the Louisiana-Layfayette offense en route to a 5-2 win at Field of the Dukes. Jon Duren earned the save, his 5th, for the Sun Devils. The Sun Devils bumped their record to 21-11 with this latest triumph.
Sam Henderson went 1-3 with a walk. He scored 2 times for Arizona State. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Nick Bearden. It was his 27th RBI of the season.
Williams told a Arizona State Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
