Michigan pitcher Nate Heady gave the Tigers all they could handle, but in the end, Missouri left Ballpark of Ridge College with a 2-1 win. Heady allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings. The win was Sean Meekins's in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Travis Rufus took the loss for Michigan. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 7-24 record.
Had Sean Daughenbaugh not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, Daughenbaugh hit a solo home run. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Tigers.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Daughenbaugh, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
