Cyclones Lose, 8-2, at Cypress Quarters College Grounds

Iowa State pitcher Ayden Dixon gave the Demon Deacans all they could handle, but in the end, Wake Forest left Cypress Quarters College Grounds with a 8-2 win. Dixon allowed no earned runs on 2 hits over 5 innings. The win was John Scott's in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Josh Brolin took the loss for Iowa State. The 14th-place Demon Deacans raised their record to 15-16.
Brian Ford was 1-4 for Wake Forest. The 21-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ryan Popek. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Wake Forest manager Gilberto Morales.
