Georgia Tech Hot Streak Continues with 6-3 Win
|
With first baseman Josh Goforth leading the charge, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defeated the Iowa State Cyclones, 6-3, at Forney College Grounds. Goforth was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. J.J. Rex got the win, improving to 3-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Eric O'Sullivan was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Georgia Tech, had it not been for Simon April, the 21-year old shortstop . April contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Georgia Tech up, 5-3.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Goforth told the Georgia Tech Times. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The winning streak has now reached 8 games for Georgia Tech.
