The South Carolina Gamecocks eked out a 7-6 win versus the Michigan Wolverines at Scandals Ballpark. Nobody did more than first baseman Corey Blades, who captured player of the game honors. Charlie Maples, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. South Carolina now has a 3-game win streak.
The Gamecocks got a big at-bat from second baseman Scott Herrin. For the game, Herrin was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave South Carolina a 2-0 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Herrin said.
