|
Spirited fans at Ballpark of Barrow College greeted the Vanderbilt Commodores for their clash with the Auburn Tigers.
Auburn starter Bill Schindler pitched effectively against the Vanderbilt Commodores at Ballpark of Barrow College. The right-hander led his team to a 6-1 win. Schindler picked up the win for Auburn, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The save went to Allen Westmoreland, his 3rd this season.
Antonio Mendoza aided the Auburn cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Bill did a tremendous job," said Auburn manager Victor Rafferty.
Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 10-19 record.
