Golden Eagles Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Rice
|
South Mississippi starter Mike Canada pitched effectively against the Rice Owls at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. The left-hander led his team to a 6-2 win. Canada picked up the win for South Mississippi, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 17-12 with this latest triumph.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from third baseman John Rose. For the game, Rose went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave South Mississippi a 2-1 lead.
"I felt we were ready to go," said South Mississippi manager Jason Metcalf. "Our pregame was pretty good."
