The Houston Cougars got a sterling performance from pitcher Josh Bradshaw, but the Golden Eagles still prevailed, 3-1. Bradshaw was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball. South Mississippi reliever Kevin Scott picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Josh Bradshaw shouldered the loss. The save went to Bob Chamberlain, his 5th this season.

In the top of the sixth inning, designated hitter Dallas Fugate came through big-time for the Golden Eagles. With South Mississippi leading 1-0, he belted a solo home run.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Fugate.

The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 16-12 with this latest triumph.
