Cougars Take Nail-Biter Over Bulldogs
The Washington State Cougars downed the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 7-6, at Tribe Ballpark. Barry Wirfel led the way, going 3-for-5 for Washington State. Washington State reliever James Priemer picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eric Novaria shouldered the loss. The Cougars have an impressive 19-9 record.

With a runner on 1st in the bottom of the tenth, Wirfel delivered the knockout blow when he hit a run-scoring triple to win it for Washington State. In the contest, Wirfel went 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Shinsui Sato, the Washington State skipper. "This one tested us."
