The Wake Forest Demon Deacans downed the South Illinois Salukis, 9-7, at Cypress Quarters College Grounds. Matt Cecil led the way, going 3-for-4 for Wake Forest. Vic Horn earned the save for Wake Forest, his 7th of the year. Wake Forest now sits at 13-15, while South Illinois falls to 13-15.

The Demon Deacans got a big at-bat from third baseman Jim Baker. For the game, Baker went 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 33rd hit of the season gave Wake Forest a 5-4 lead.
