Multi-HR Day for Clark as Volunteers Overpower Gamecocks, 11-3
|
Fans at Scandals Ballpark were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown South Carolina Gamecocks take on the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Tennessee Volunteers beat the South Carolina Gamecocks, 11-3, at Scandals Ballpark. Tennessee first baseman Brian Clark earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He belted 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times. Donavan Wells got the win, improving to 4-2. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 2 hits and 1 run, while striking out 6 and walking 3.
Clark had a key at-bat for Tennessee early in the game. With the bases empty, he hit a solo home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and gave Tennessee an early 1-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Clark said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
At 13-14, the Volunteers are currently 15th in the Ron Fraser Division.
