Rizzo Helps Bulldogs Run Win Streak to 3
|
Mississippi State center fielder Mike Rizzo made his presence felt in the 8-4 Bulldogs triumph over the Oregon Ducks. Rizzo went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Mississippi State reliever Nick Lane was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Pat Wheeler. Mississippi State has now won 3 in a row.
Rizzo contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Mississippi State in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Rizzo took a fastball from Ray Proctor and stroked the home run to left-center. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Bulldogs to leap in front, 7-4.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Carlton Price said.
