Crimson Tide Win at Auburn, 8-5
|
Alabama first baseman Chris Royer was instrumental in his team's 8-5 win over the Auburn Tigers. Royer, who is tied for 6th in the SBL in bases on balls with 23, went 2-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Crimson Tide. Jason Murphy got the win, improving to 2-0. He held the Tigers to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The Crimson Tide bumped their record to 15-11 with this latest triumph.
Royer had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning, when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Crimson Tide went on to win.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Alabama manager Gene Beatty.
