Sycamores Come Up Short at Florida
|
Florida designated hitter Jose Lopez was instrumental in his team's 6-5 win over the Indiana State Sycamores. Lopez, who is tied for 8th in the SBL in bases on balls with 22, went 2-3 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Gators. The winner was Florida reliever Nick Jarrell, now 2-0. The loser was Oliver Berkson. The Gators have an impressive 18-8 record.
Sam Edgell, who is tied for 4th in the SBL in triples with 2, aided the Florida cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the center fielder was 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"This was a good win for us," said Edgell. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
