The Long Beach State 49'ers downed the TCU Horned Frogs, 9-6, at Dingoes Ballpark. The 49'ers were led by Keith Whitsitt, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The 49'ers saw their record improve to 12-13.

Whitsitt contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Long Beach State in the top of the third. With his team trailing 3-1, Whitsitt took a knuckleball from Ken Hughes and stroked the home run to left-center. His 8th home run of the season allowed the 49'ers to leap in front, 4-3.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Long Beach State skipper Richie Robertson.
