Owls Prevail, 5-4, Over Baylor
|
Rice second baseman Evan Wallrath had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Baylor Bears, 5-4. The winner was Rice reliever Jimmy Pennington, now 4-1. The loser was Eric Butko. The Owls now have a mark of 12-13.
Wallrath contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Rice in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Wallrath took a fastball from Eric Butko and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Owls to leap in front, 3-1.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Wallrath. "And not try to do too much."
