Tigers Prevail, 7-5, Over Tennessee
|
The Tennessee Volunteers got a sterling performance from right fielder Casey Kettner, but the Tigers still prevailed, 7-5. Kettner was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brian King, credited with the win, is now 1-3. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 5 innings. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 5-20 record.
The Tigers beat the Volunteers with some clutch hitting. The single by Josh Nytes in the bottom of the first is a good example. With two down, Nytes gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Nytes said.
