Yellow Jackets Subdue Vanderbilt, 4-3
|
Fans who gathered at Ballpark of Barrow College saw a good contest between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Georgia Tech beat Vanderbilt at Ballpark of Barrow College, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Chris Corrao, who earned player of the game honors. In 5 innings, Corrao surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Steven Wood sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Jamie Fisher aided the Georgia Tech cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Georgia Tech skipper Reese Mitchell. "I can't complain."
Georgia Tech now has a 3-game win streak.
