49'ers Come Up Short at Louisiana-Layfayette
|
The Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns beat the Long Beach State 49'ers, 7-6, at Field of the Dukes. The Ragin Cajuns got a fine performance from right fielder Dan Miller, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Jim Riggs locked down his 4th save. Even with the win, the Ragin Cajuns have a dismal 7-14 record.
The Ragin Cajuns got a big at-bat from catcher Mike Biggers. For the game, Biggers went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 18th hit of the season gave Louisiana-Layfayette a 7-6 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Miller. "And not try to do too much."
