Cougars Squelch Trojans Offense in Shutout Win
Washington State Cougars starter Dave McCrudden was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the USC Trojans, 5-0. McCrudden, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Brandon Swift picked up the save for Washington State, his 1st of the year.

The Cougars got a big at-bat from catcher Nick Kretzer. For the game, Kretzer went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 5th double of the season gave Washington State a 1-0 lead.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Washington State manager Shinsui Sato. "It's usually not just one thing."

The Cougars bumped their record to 15-6 with this latest triumph.
