Cougars Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Washington State and Stanford duked it out at Surfers Ballpark and the Cougars came out victorious.
Stanford pitcher Bubba Pell gave the Cougars all they could handle, but in the end, Washington State left Surfers Ballpark with a 3-0 win. Pell allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits over 6 innings. Washington State reliever Eric Anderson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Bubba Pell was saddled with the loss.
The Cougars got a big at-bat from second baseman Jonathan Vera. For the game, Vera was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Washington State a 1-0 lead.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Vera.
The Cougars bumped their record to 14-6 with this latest triumph.
