The Houston Cougars scored a 3-2 win versus the Arizona State Sun Devils at Suns Ballpark. Houston pitcher Chris Durkin nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Andre McNeal picked up the save for Houston, his 3rd of the year. The Cougars bumped their record to 11-8 with this latest triumph.

The Cougars got a big at-bat from second baseman Rob McCleary. For the game, McCleary was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Houston a 2-1 lead.

Afterward, Cougars manager Cisco Sánchez was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
