Tight Tilt Goes to Jayhawks, 4-3
|
The inspired effort of Georgia Tech first baseman Josh Goforth was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks. Goforth went 1-1 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 runs. Kansas starter Sterling Gutwein was credited with the win after throwing 82 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Chris Mayfield picked up the save for Kansas, his 6th of the year.
Chad Stufft aided the Kansas cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We'll keep riding this wave as long as we can," said Jayhawks manager Nakazo Kobayashi.
The Jayhawks, at 15-4, have now won 10 straight.
