South Illinois catcher Ryan Egan had a good game, even if his team did not. The Salukis dropped a 8-7 decision to Virginia at Ballpark of Redwood College. Egan was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Jon Moore picked up the save for Virginia, his 6th of the year. The Cavaliers bumped their record to 12-7 with this latest triumph.

Steve Davenport drew 1 walk for Virginia. The 21-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Brandon Roberts. It was his 1st walk of the season.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Davenport told the Virginia News.
