Cowboys Topple Tigers with Late Rally
|
The Cowboys had to overcome a good performance from Clemson pitcher Tommy Forbush to claim a 5-4 win at Magistrates Ballpark. Forbush went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Oklahoma State reliever Justin Gilmore picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Andy Mayhew was saddled with the loss. Billy Boyd earned the save, his 4th.
The Cowboys got a big at-bat from second baseman David Pacheco. For the game, Pacheco was 1-1 with a double. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Oklahoma State a 5-4 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Clemson manager Dominique Maze said following the tough loss.
The Cowboys bumped their record to 9-9 with this latest triumph.
