Vázquez Slugs Marauders to 13-3 Win
|
The Maple Marauders knocked off the Kansas City Tornadoes, 13-3, at Debris Field. Ángel Vázquez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Maple won. The designated hitter slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Reliever Ramón Gómez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. António Medrano took the loss. Maple improves to 44-24 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.
The Marauders got a big at-bat from center fielder Andreas Kubel. For the game, Kubel was 1-5 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave Maple a 3-1 lead.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Vázquez told the Maple Daily News.
