Golden Bears Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus Fresno State
|
California played host to Fresno State at the friendly confines of Prisoners Ballpark.
A 4-RBI performance from the 21-year old right fielder Evan Wescott helped the California Golden Bears beat the Fresno State Bulldogs, 8-5. Reliever Darren Thomas picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Cody Kelly took the loss. Earning his 8th save for California was Donald Barron.
Wescott had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 3-1 cutter from Cullen Wetmore, he banged a 2-run double to right, giving the Golden Bears a 6-5 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Wescott.
"We came out aggressive," said Golden Bears manager Kevin Young. "We came out swinging the bats."
The Golden Bears have an impressive 11-6 record.
