Victory Pushes Bulldogs Record to 10-6
|
The exploits of left fielder Danny Stone, who is tied for 6th in the RDL in total bases with 48, helped the Fresno State Bulldogs defeat the Rice Owls, 5-2. Stone was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Eric Russ was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jeff Shue earned save number 2.
Bobby Douberly, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Bulldogs organization, aided the Fresno State cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Fresno State manager Xavier Chávez. "It's usually not just one thing."
