The South Illinois Salukis got a magnificent effort from pitcher Brent Laurendeau, who kept Clemson hitters in check en route to a 2-0 Salukis win at Field of the Shield. Mike Baker earned the save, his 3rd, for the Salukis. The Salukis bumped their record to 8-8 with this latest triumph.

Salvatore Marroquin, who is tied for 9th in the SBL in home runs with 5, aided the South Illinois cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.

"I felt we were ready to go," said South Illinois manager Justin Page. "Our pregame was pretty good."
