Seminoles Get Road Win, 3-2
|
The Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers completed their game despite the rain.
The Seminoles had to overcome a good performance from Clemson pitcher Mike Justice to claim a 3-2 win at Magistrates Ballpark. Justice went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Jimmy Lanier earned the win for Florida State. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. The save went to Butch Eviston, his 1st this season.
The Seminoles got a big at-bat from shortstop Chris Parker. For the game, Parker went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Florida State a 2-0 lead.
Afterward, Seminoles manager Gene Barraclough was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Their 7-8 record puts the Seminoles 12th in the Ron Fraser Division.
