The Oregon Ducks stopped the UCLA Bruins by a score of 23-2 at Ballpark of Shiprock College today, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Zachary Long. The 21-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Long said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Long did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Bruins.

"Not much that I can say," offered UCLA manager Rick Osmond. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Zachary Long singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, walked in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

Posting a .482 batting average to date, Long has 4 home runs and 16 RBIs.
