Lewis Slugs Cavaliers to 12-8 Win
|
In a high-scoring contest between Virginia and Alabama, catcher Sam Lewis was a difference-maker. Lewis, who is tied for 7th in the SBL in home runs with 5, earned player of the game honors in the 12-8 Virginia win. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The Cavaliers bumped their record to 8-6 with this latest triumph.
Nate Randazzo, who is tied for 6th in the SBL in hits with 20, aided the Virginia cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter drew 3 walks in 5 plate appearances.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Lewis.
