Benefiting from Jason Cizek's productive game, the Houston Cougars downed the Rice Owls, 4-3. Cizek went 3-6 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Cougars. Houston reliever Greg Kilroy got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bryan Drebin was tagged with the loss. The Owls, at 5-8, have lost 5 in a row.

Cizek had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 12th. On a 2-2 curveball from Bryan Drebin, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Cougars a 4-3 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Cizek.

"This place was rockin'," Cizek said.
