The Iowa State Cyclones defeated the Auburn Tigers, 2-1, in Skip Bertman League action at Forney College Grounds, with Iowa State pitcher Jon Clark named player of the game. Clark, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Nick Swanson picked up the save, his 2nd.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from center fielder Matt O'Dell. For the game, O'Dell went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Iowa State a 2-0 lead.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Auburn manager Victor Rafferty.
With the win, the Cyclones improved to 5-6.
