Commodores Win in Extras
|
Commodores right fielder Jason Valentine put his stamp on his team's 8-6 win over the Missouri Tigers. Valentine went 4-5 with a home run, 3 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Vanderbilt in the contest. Vanderbilt reliever William Burnett was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Chris Van Arsdale. The Commodores bumped their record to 6-5 with this latest triumph.
Dustin Stumpf aided the Vanderbilt cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4 with 2 walks.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Stumpf.
