Longhorns Come Up Short at UCLA
In a low-scoring clash between UCLA and Texas, pitcher Dave Gershenson was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for UCLA in the 1-0 win. Gershenson went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Earning his 2nd save for UCLA was Derrek Bathauer.

Johnny Sachs did the little things right to help the team for UCLA. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Andy Robisch. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sachs said.

Even with the win, the Bruins have a dismal 2-8 record.
